Kalawao County Busted Mugshots is a private reference, not a government office. It cannot confirm custody, release a person, post bond, or pull an official booking record. Contact the agency that created or holds the record. For emergencies, use 911.
Where to Ask for a Record
No separate current public Kalawao Sheriff office address, phone, records unit, or public roster was located in the official source review. Kalawao’s DOH-appointed sheriff structure does not create a public contact block that can be safely guessed. The right office depends on the event: DOH for a DOH/Kalawao file, Maui Police for an MPD report, NPS for a park record, DCR for a state custody record, and the court for a case or disposition.
DOH UIPA requests
Use the Hawaii Department of Health UIPA instructions for a DOH-held record. Name Kalawao, Kalaupapa, the person, date range, and requested booking photo.
NPS records
Use NPS FOIA for a park-created record. Do not use emergency dispatch for a routine records request.
DCR custody
Use the DCR contact and UIPA route for a state-held record. MCCC is a state facility, not a Kalawao County jail.
Police and Custody Contacts
These offices answer different questions. A police records line is not a live custody roster, and a booking desk is not a photo gallery.

Maui Police Records Section
For a Maui Police report, use the MPD Police Reports page and its public-record portal at mauicountyhi.govqa.us. The page also lists a mail and fax route. Ask for the arrest or booking record and photograph separately, and state that the incident may relate to Kalawao or Kalaupapa.

MPD says most cases are processed within 10 business days. Copies under 25 pages have no fee, while voluminous requests may involve $0.25 per page or $5 per CD at the agency’s discretion, plus possible search or segregation charges under Hawaii rules. That timing and fee description concern MPD requests, not every Kalawao record or photo.
Which Office Handles Which Need?
Start with the source that matches the question. The home page’s county-wide record path explains how to separate custody, booking, court, and federal routes.
- For a DOH or Kalawao Sheriff booking record, use DOH UIPA and ask the department to identify the custodian.
- For an MPD-created report, use the MPD Records Section and portal.
- For a park incident, use NPS FOIA. For immediate safety at Kalaupapa, use NPS dispatch or 911.
- For qualifying DCR custody status, use Hawaiʻi SAVIN/VINELink; it is not a public photo search.
- For a court case or disposition, contact Molokai District Court or use eCourt Kōkua.
- For a federal or immigration custody question, use the official BOP, USMS, ICE, or responsible agency route.
A booking or arrest is an accusation, not a conviction. The agency or court remains the source of truth.
